We're going parallel !!! ZONA is working to parallelize ZAERO using the Message Passing Interface (MPI). The match-point flutter solution at each altitude has already been parallelized within ZAERO and can make use of multiple CPU's for the FLUTTER and FLTPRAM engineering disciplines. A new ZAERO Executive Control Command (“CPU n”, where n = no. of CPUs) can be used to activate the parallel feature within these modules. This option is available the current release of the software (version 7.4). ABAQUS Link ZAERO now has an ABAQUS link to directly read in the ABAQUS generated modal solution and to export ABAQUS input formatted FORCE and MOMENT cards from a trim analysis. ABAQUS v6.5 or later will have the ZAERO modal output option using the to ZAERO option.

AML/ZONAIR Interface Under a U.S. Air Force/AFRL supported SBIR contract, ZONA has teamed up with TechnoSoft Inc. to create an interface within TechnoSoft's Adaptive Modeling Language software a new ZONAIR interface module. AML, an object-oriented, knowledge-based engineering modeling framework, enables the automation of analysis and design processes. It incorporates various tools to facilitate “what-if” trade studies - integrating and automating design, analysis, and optimization processes. The ZONAIR interface extends AML's capability to generate high-order steady aerodynamics for flight loads that includes aeroelasticity and aerothermoelasticity effects. ASTROS Under a U.S. Air Force cooperative research and development agreement, ZONA is currently engaged in supporting the commercialization of the Automated STRuctural Optimization System (ASTROS) software. ASTROS is a multidisciplinary design/optimization environment based on the world standard Nastran format that combines finite element modeling and analysis techniques with efficient optimization solutions to deliver significant reductions in the time required to develop superior designs of aerospace structures.
