The objective of the Phase II is to fully develop the Aerodynamic Module of ZAERO and the Aeroservoelastic Module ASE, and to seamlessly integrate the ZAERO Module into ASTROS.
The ZAERO Module consists of five submodules (AGM, ZONA6, ZONA7, ZONA51U, and ZTAIC) which cover the complete flight regime throughout the full Mach number range. It will provide unified unsteady aerodynamics in k-domain as well as in s-domain, a capability surpassing all existing aerodynamic modules in any MDO environment. Thus, the integrated ASTROS/ZAERO will furnish a unique aerodynamic/aeroelastic methodology for aircraft design and analysis. The built in Aerodynamic Geometry Module (AGM) will provide any selected panel method a convenient entry to ASTROS.
The ASE module will be developed according to the following steps. First the submodule development will consist of: Generalized Matrices; Rational Aerodynamic Approximation; Control Model and Control Margins; State-Space Formulation; Flutter and Gust/Response. Next, the ASTROS/ZAERO/ASE integration will establish New Bulk Data Entries, Solution Control and MAPOL Sequence.
For testing and validation of the integrated ASTROS, four specific cases with different scenarios will be investigated to demonstrate the ASTROS/ASE applicability. Deliverables include the executables of the integrated ASTROS/ZAERO/ASE software, software documentation comprised of four manuals and contractual reports.
