Enhancement of the Aeroservoelastic
Modules in ASTROS

ABSTRACT

The objective of this STTR proposal is to sufficiently develop a Aeroservoelastic (ASE) discipline and to integrate the ASE module into ASTROS. The ZONA team attempts to achieve two major technical efforts in order to accomplish this objective. First, we will provide a Software Design Blueprint for ASE module structuring and its integration into ASTROS. Second, a Unified S-Domain Aerodynamic (USDA) package, including ZONA’s Unsteady Transonic and Hypersonic Aerodynamics (ZTES and ZSHU), will be developed for ASE applications. A feasibility study will include F-5 Wing and a NASP Demonstrator Wing for Transonic and Hypersonic Flutter boundary predictions, respectively, and will ascertain the utilization of USDA and ASE applications. Hence, with the approved Software Design Blueprint for ASE as a basis, a seamless ASTOR/ASE integration can be implemented. Once USDA is proven to be a successful tool for ASE Design/Analysis and is Unified for all Mach numbers and valid in the frequency, time as well as S-Domains, it will be incorporated into ASTROS. The resulting Integrated ASTROS Code should acquire a competitive edge over all existing MDO software.
